Company description

Writing a tender submission may be a daunting task for some engineers. They may not be familiar with the assessment process, or they might not have enough experience of it to make more substantial submissions. After having several attempts rejected, they might start to question whether they are even able to do the project work. By seeking help with tender writing, they may be able to solve this dilemma.

In selecting a company to assist them with the drafting of their tender documents, they should choose one with prior experience. This is not only shown in the number of clients, but also in the success rate of those clients in securing contracts. Successful references are important in determining whether the writing service is really of any assistance to bidding contractors.

Prospective clients should also ask to see examples of past documents, in an effort to examine the quality of text, both in its composition and format. A tender document can sometimes be very long, so the editor should have the ability to work on large documents, or those which contain a large amount of specialized material.

The latter point, especially, is linked to the consideration that engineering is sometimes a highly sophisticated field. If the editor is unable to understand even basic engineering concepts, they should not be used to work on the documentation, since they may battle to produce a persuasive text, or at least one which appropriately conveys the necessary information to the assessing committee. This is where past experience is so important.

At the same time, though, the bidding contractor also needs to provide sufficient information to the text editor. Contractors who are trying to structure their text in such a way as to serve some less obvious yet strategic purpose, or who are massaging the data that they supply, should not be surprised if the editor either refuses to help them, or advises them against such practices. There is, in fact, no help available for such operators.

It is the contractor who does the project work, but the administrative process of submitting paperwork may stymie them. A professional editor can assist in giving them the best chance of securing the contract.
