- We typically perform breast augmentation with implants at our practice in Brisbane, Queensland using general anaesthetic. The surgery involves the placement of an implant either behind the breast tissue or under the chest wall muscle, which is called the pectoral muscle. Once inserted, the breast implants will push or help lift the breast tissue forward, making the breasts appear larger and fuller.
We typically perform breast lift, or mastopexy, at our Brisbane practice using a general anaesthetic. Dr. Richardson can complete a mastopexy procedure using a number of methods, including the Wise pattern technique and minimal scarring techniques such as the Lejour and Benelli methods. Dr. Richardson discusses each of these options in more detail with his patients before surgery.
Silicone breast implants are filled with a silicone gel that closely matches the feel and consistency of natural breast tissue. For this reason, it is preferred by many women over saline implants. Though there are some unique complications that can arise in rare instances, such as silicone leakage, and these potential risks should be taken into consideration, silicone breast implants have been proven to be both safe and effective.
